Real Love
Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Rabbi, which is the great commandment in the Torah? MATTITHYAHU (MATTHEW) 22:35-36 את CEPHER
Yahusha said unto him, You shall love את Yahuah Elohayka with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Torah and the prophets. MATTITHYAHU (MATTHEW) 22:37-40 את CEPHER
I find this to be one of easiest passages of scripture to comprehend. But, how do you carry it out? Is it sufficient to have an emotional affinity? Is my intent enough? What about the different “love languages?” Is love just a “second-hand emotion”?
I have good news for you. To understand the love expressed in the passage, you need only look at the two sources quoted in their original context.
DEVARIYM (DEUTERONOMY) 6 reveals that loving Yah is guarding and adhering to Yah’s Torah (i.e., his teaching and instruction) and teaching it the next generation.
VAYIQRA (LEVITICUS) 19:9-18 reveals that loving our neighbor is helping them do the same, dealing always in generosity and honesty. Where honesty demands rebuke, that must be given without any hatred, grudge or vengeance in our hearts.
Be well! Pursue Greatness!
